Careers at LBW
Articling at LBW At LBW, we are looking for students who will become first-rate lawyers. In our view, a first-rate lawyer is above all a creative one. We are looking for a trail-blazer who is thoroughly familiar with all facets of the law and who can make an argument that will result in a precedent-setting decision, propose a solution to resolve a deadlocked negotiation, or structure a transaction suited to the specific needs of a business. We value originality, innovation and fresh ideas more than the comfort of well-worn views and set ways. It's more demanding, but infinitely more satisfying. Our articling program provides students with exposure to a wide range of practices areas. Moreover, students are involved not only in researching the law, but also participate in many of the practical and necessary aspects of practice such as meeting with clients, interviewing witnesses and assuming responsibility for the preparatory work required prior to an actual hearing or trial. Students at LBW are regularly involved in cases from beginning to end and are strongly encouraged to attend at hearings of matters in which they have shared some of the responsibility. In this manner, students gain a real and beneficial understanding of the practical and legal aspects of practicing many different areas of law and share the sense of achievement which comes with seeing a matter through to a successful conclusion. Currently, Wade Mills is articling at LBW and gaining experience in all the firm’s areas of practice. If you are interested in an articling position at LBW, please deliver your application materials (including a covering letter, resume, and official transcripts from all post-secondary education institutions attended) no later than June 15 for positions in the subsequent year, to Maureen Campbell (LBW Administrator) at our St. Catharines office.
