EDUCATION:
Mr. Edwards attended Grantham High School in St. Catharines before attending the University of Waterloo.
He obtained an LLB at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1975, and was called to the Bar in 1977.
EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Edwards has been a Partner at the firm of Lancaster, Mix and Welch (now Lancaster, Brooks & Welch)
since 1978.
He has extensive corporate experience in organizing and updating the corporate structure of both large and small, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations including re-writing the by-laws of the St. Catharines & District United Way, the Children's Centre, and
many private corporations. He is also experienced in the incorporation, amalgamation, and general restructuring of both for-profit and not-for-profit corporations.
His commercial experience includes acting on behalf of clients for acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, ranging from large, complicated, tax-driven transactions to
smaller, simpler ones. Mr. Edwards has also acted for borrowers and lenders in loan transactions secured by assets of all types
Mr. Edwards is actively involved in estate planning for clients, including complex corporate re-organization for estate freezing purposes, creation of Inter Vivos Family Trusts and Last Wills and Testaments with Testamentary Trusts.
He is also Solicitor to the
Brock University Crown Foundation and was actively involved in its creation.
Mr. Edwards is involved in real estate transactions in the commercial as well as the residential field.
This includes acting for lenders on commercial and residential loan matters as well as acquisition and disposition of commercial and residential real property.
