Stanleigh E. Palka


 

EDUCATION:

 

Mr. Palka received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Queen's University in 1996 in political science.  In the summer of 1996, he studied at Queen's University's International Study Centre in England, earning a Certificate in Strategic Policy Planning.  He proceeded to complete a Master of Arts (M.A.) in political science from McMaster University in 1997 and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Queen's University in 1998.  He attended law school at the University of Windsor, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 2001.  He was called to the Bar in 2002.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

In 1999, Mr. Palka worked for the Crown Attorney (Ministry of the Attorney-General) in St. Catharines.  In 2000, he worked for the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor, helping with legal research and law school promotion.  During law school, Mr. Palka mooted extensively, participating in the school's internal Zuber Moot Competition and labour arbitration moot and representing the school in the Gale Cup Moot Competition.  Additionally, he judged moots and coached mooting teams.  Throughout law school, Mr. Palka also volunteered at the Community Legal Aid clinic in Windsor.

 

Publications by Mr. Palka include "Canada's Cultural Industries, the United States, and Trade Law: Tension, Conflict, and Possibilities" in the Windsor Review and Legal and Social Issues (2002). Also, Mr. Palka is quoted in and contributed to the landlord-tenant chapter of Homegirl: The Single Woman's Guide to Buying Real Estate in Canada (2007) by Brenda Bouw.
